DEFINITION OF A CHRISTLIKE DIALOGUE

A Christlike dialogue is defined as honest conversation, guided by the Holy Spirit that includes:

Other-minded listening (Philippians 2:3-4; James 1:19-20)

Seeking and speaking the truth in love (John 14:6; 8:32; Ephesians 4:15)

Focusing on Christ’s interests (1 Timothy 1:15; Ephesians 4:13)

Trusting God with the outcome (1 Peter 2:23; 2 Timothy 2:24-26)

THE NEED

All across America, gossip and argumentative monologues continue to be more prevalent than Christlike dialogue. God wants to see that change. Why? Because He wants His children to embrace disagreements and conflict as opportunities to know Christ better, become more like Him, and represent Jesus well through the words we speak (and don’t speak) so others come to know Jesus as He truly is.

Think of the impact within a congregation or organization when Christlike dialogue becomes more prevalent than gossip and quarreling.
Think of the impact within our homes, our churches, within our neighborhoods, in the workplace, and throughout society when Christians become the people God is calling us to be in regard to how we respond to and communicate with people who have differing views.
